A few months ago Maritus showed me this video of this woman playing drums. First of all, she is very good. But what really struck me is just how happy she is and how much fun she is having. She’s smiling, she’s open, and she is thoroughly enjoying herself.
SunshineMary had a really good post up yesterday on the difference between sassy and saucy and I think it’s an important post for women. Most women my age and younger have been told “Stand up for yourself! Don’t let anyone walk all over you.” While in certain situations, this might be good advice, many women seem to have taken it too far. They put their walls up in every situation and end up being confrontational and simply unpleasant to be around. Contrast the women here displaying BRF (H/T Rollo Tomassi) to Meytal in the video above.
Not only is Meytal very pretty (she has great makeup, beautiful hair, she’s slim), but just watch her play. She is smiling. She is smiling a whole lot. This alone makes her stand out. But even more than that, she is unabashedly having a wonderful time. She’s not being brash or rude, but she is having fun in an open and incredibly charming way. She makes eyes at the camera and she pulls her audience in. Yes, she is pretty and that helps, but you show me a girl who does her best with her looks who may not be as pretty as Meytal but acts in the same way and I will show you a girl who is radiant.
Drop the shields and smile. Go out there and do what is fun for you and let your body language show how much fun you are having. Look people in the eye with an open face and be bright and happy. It’s contagious. Spread it around.
